While we primarily distribute our books through in-person events and with our online shop, we love to support and engage our local book stores. We’re happy to build a great working relationship with you and your store’s community. Whether its participating in an author signing, doing a quick story time, or putting our books on your shelves – let us know how we can help engage our readers and your customers.
The best way to get a hold of us is through our email at staff@heartfirebooks.com.

Selling Local
Every store has its own way of doing things, but over the years we’ve found there are a few things we like to know before we put our books on your shelves. Here are a few questions to consider as you reach out to us:
- What opportunities/expectations are there to participate in an author signing?
- Are you wanting to purchase books at wholesale prices?
- Does the store operate with authors through a consignment arrangement?
- What is the store’s policy on damaged or stolen consigned books?
- If the store offers a sale on the book does that discounted price come out of the store’s percentage or the gross percentage?
- Are there fees taken in addition to the store’s consignment percentage? What do those fees go towards?
- What is the duration of the consignment agreement?
- What happens to the unsold copies at the end of a consignment agreement?
- How often are the earnings distributed?
- What publicity or advertising is done to alert customers of author signings and book selections?
Scheduling Events
In-person visits are a fantastic way to build community. When visiting at a local book store, our authors are happy to participate in author signings, story hours, or with a presentation fee one of our author programs. The sooner we can start determining the date, the more likely we are able to accommodate date preferences.
Please be advised that March is generally reserved for schools participating in March is Reading month.
Additionally, and with very few exceptions, we do not schedule events in the month of April or the last two weeks in December.
As with all other things, however, we advise you to reach out and ask. Mayhaps your particular event might justify an exception. And if it doesn’t, then we can work together to find a good solution to meet your event needs.
Marketing Materials
We love it when a plan comes together, but that really begins with great communication! When marketing an author signing or a new title, please make use of the approved material.
